The Longest

Photons
Eight minutes old
Career and scatter across the sky
Boldly knocking at my window shades
Shamelessly flirting with lush green leaves
Exploding from the flower beds alarmingly
Red, yellow, pure bright white

Photons
Born of fire
Sent flying in the face of the void
Some destined to travel for billions of years
Before delivering their messages of light

Others destined to linger here
And conspire with the elements
To create this perfect day
The longest day
Bathed in photons
The least reckoning of night
